Cairo—The Heart of a Millennium of Civilization


Coasting the banks of the Nile, Cairo is one of the largest metropolises in Africa and the Middle East, earning the nickname "The City of a Thousand Minarets." It blends the splendor of ancient Egypt with the romance of the Islamic world, its streets filled with whispers of history and the bustle of its bazaars. At the Egyptian Museum, you can admire treasures from the Pharaonic era and experience the splendor of pyramid civilization. Travel to the Giza Plateau for an up-close encounter with the three pyramids and the Sphinx. Stroll through the Khan el-Khalili Souk and discover the charm of Arabia among spices, gold and silver jewelry, and handicrafts. As the sun sets over the Nile, you'll realize that Cairo is more than just a city; it's a living scroll of history.

Giza Pyramids / The Sphinx / Saqqara Pyramids

After breakfast, you will be picked up by your Egyptologist for a full day tour of Giza and its environs.

Your tour will start with a visit to:

Giza Pyramids: You will visit the pyramids and Sphinx of Giza, located on the outskirts of Cairo, and considered amongst the seven Wonders of the World. The Great Pyramids are over 4500 years old, and are massive in size, with some of the blocks weighing in excess of two and a half tons each.

Camel Ride: No trip to Egypt would be complete without a camel ride at Giza Pyramids. So you will have an opportunity to mount your individual camel for a short ride across the sands of Giza to the Sphinx.

The Sphinx: Enter the temple of the mysterious Sphinx, an ancient figure shrouded in legend and mystery. Your Egyptologist will enthrall you with the tales told of this fascinating figure.

After Lunch we will visit:

Saqqara Pyramids, the necropolis of Memphis, home of the step pyramid, the first limestone structure ever built. Explore its 4350 years old colored tombs. Get the chance to go inside a pyramid and see the ancient Hieroglyphics that have been engraved on its walls for thousands of years. Your tour will include a visit from inside Saqqara pyramids. Then drive back to your hotel.

Day4
Fly to Aswan

After breakfast. Fly to Aswan. Upon arrival this morning, enjoy a tour to Aswan's high Dam, the granite quarries and the Temple of Philae. Transfer to your Luxury Nile

cruise ship. Lunch on board. This afternoon, board small felucca to cruise along the Nile around the botanical gardens and Elephantine Island. Evening activities on board with buffet dinner.

Day5
Kom ombo Temple / Edfu Temple / Nile River Cruise

After Breakfast, setting sail to Kom Ombo as you proceed north toward Luxor. Visit to Kom Ombo Temple. Standing on a promontory at a bend in the Nile, where in ancient times sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the River bank. Lunch back onboard.

Continue sailing to Edfu. Afternoon enjoy a visit to the Temple of Edfu. Return to the cruise and continue sailing to Luxor. Evening activities on board with buffet dinner.

Day6
Day 6: Valley of the Kings / Queen Hatshepsut / Luxor Temple

After breakfast, you will proceed to visit the Valley of the Kings, visiting the tombs of the

Great Pharaohs. afterwards a visit to temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the rare female pharaohs.

Next, visit a family home and witness the making of authentic Egyptian sun bread. Lunch on board. Free afternoon.

This evening, visit the famous Luxor Temple by night.

Day7
Disembark the Nile cruise / Fly Back to Cairo

Disembark after breakfast. Visit Karnak Temple, the largest temple complex built by man. Walk through the avenue of ram-headed sphinxes, past the statue of Rameses II, to the vast Hypostyle Hall, housing 134 giant decorated columns. Then transfer to the airport for your flight back to Cairo. You will check in to your luxury hotel for an evening at leisure.

Day8
Day 8: Grand Egyptian Museum / Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali

After Breakfast you will visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, the largest museum in the world for one single civilization. You will stand face-to-face with the Golden Mask of the boy King Tutankhamun. You will be dazzled with the number of treasures and artifacts that this museum holds. Afterwards a visit to the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali. Situated on the summit of a centuries-old citadel, this is a fine example of an Ottoman-era Mosque. Lunch in one of the best Local restaurants in Cairo.

Day 9: Departure from Cairo airport
